Telefonica extends its leadership in IoT solutions delivery with a key alliance with PTC

Madrid 6th of June, May 2016 – Telefonica’s Internet of Things (IoT) business unit is extending its leadership in IoT solution delivery with a key agreement with PTC, a global provider of technology platforms and solutions that transform how companies create, operate, and service the ‘things’ in the IoT. PTC’s ThingWorx IoT platform will be utilized by Telefonica to advance connected product and service development. 

Telefonica’s Smart Device Service, which is comprised of device enablement and management capabilities, enables customers to transform their business with connected applications and services. By using ThingWorx, Telefonica is extending the platform’s rapid application development, connectivity, and analytics capabilities, which help organizations reduce the time and cost of building, deploying, and achieving value from connected product and service applications. Telefonica´s Smart Device Service is fully integrated with Smart m2m, Telefonica´s managed connectivity platform, to provide customers with complete visibility, control and management of the end to end solution.

With this agreement, Telefonica will offer customers business solutions that seamlessly integrate applications, networks and devices, enabling them to transform their businesses.  Telefonica’s operators will leverage ThingWorx’s ready-made components and its global ecosystem of partners to deliver secure and reliable IoT services.

This agreement will also provide Telefonica’s customers with access to fully integrated solutions and cloud-based deployment for applications and development, enabling them to reduce service downtime and optimize on-field intervention through remote detection and resolution of problems.  Customers can leverage the offering to simplify their business processes, enabling them to rapidly adapt to market changes by deploying new solutions and device upgrades. In addition, customers will benefit from the experience of Telefonica’s managed services offerings, providing an end-to-end solution.
